The concerts

During the Festival, several concerts are given by one or more invited artists, the professors and the student musicians.

These last years, the “Enghien International Musical Encounters” had the pleasure of welcoming prestigious artists:

  • Starting in 1993, the Bass-Baryton Thierry Félix, First Prize at the Queen Elisabeth competition accompanied on the piano by Professor Paul von Schilhawsky, as well as by the well known violinist Philippe Hirshhorn.
  • In 1994:  Andreï Nikolsky, First Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for piano.  
  • In 1995:  Laura Mikkola, Second Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for piano.
  • In 1996:  Liviu Prunaru, Second Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for violin, Anja Vincken, oprano, Prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for voice.
  • In 1997: Valéry Afanassiev and Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, respectively first and third Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for piano.
  • In 1998: Stephen Salters, First Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for voice. 
  • In 1999: Edith Peinemann, violoinist, Itamar Golan, pianist, Vitaly Samoshko, Prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for piano  
  • In 2000: Marius Brenciu, Second Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for voice.    
  • In 2001: Yuzuko Horigome, First Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for violin. Marco Rizzi, violinist, François Guye, cello, and Zhu Xiao-Mei , piano. Maria Fausta Gallamini voice.    
  • In 2002 : Mitsuko Shirai mezzo soprano, Yuzuko Horigome, Marco Rizzi, David Grimal, Roeland Gehlen, Michail Bezverchni, violin, Geneviève Strosser, Yvietta Matison, viola, Jeroen Reuling et François Guye, cello, Nathalie Manfrino, Elise Gabële, sopranos,  Michel Arrignon, clarinet.
  • In 2003: Laura Mikkola and Olivier Roberti, piano. Marco Rizzi and Tedi Papavrami, violin.  Michael Kugel and Anthony Devroye, viola, Jeroen Reuling and François Guye, cello, the composer Viktor Kissine, David Grimal, violin, Boyan Vodenitcharov, piano et Marc Coppey, cello.    
  • In 2004 : François Guye, cello and Olivier Roberti, piano, Marco Rizzi, violin and Dana Protopopescu, piano, Mitsuko Shirai, mezzo soprano and Hartmut Höll, piano. The Prazák Quartet, and François Guye, cello.    
  • In 2005 : Marco Rizzi, Sofia Jaffé (third Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for violin 2005), Lorenzo Gatto, violin, Matthias Buchholz, viola, Jeroen Reuling, François Guye, cello, Olivier Roberti, Blanche d’Harcourt, Dana Protopopescu, piano,  Mitsuko Shirai, mezzo-soprano    
  • In 2006 : Frederieke Saeijs, violin, Matthias Buchholz, viola, Jeroen Reuling, cello, Olivier Roberti, piano. Marco Rizzi, the Trio Corleone (Lorenzo Gatto, violin, Dimitri Murrath, viola, Jeanne Maisonhaute, cello)    
  • In 2007 : Marco Rizzi, Eléonore Darmon, violin, Julie Risbet, Sumin Seo, viola, François Guye, Zéphyrin Rey-Bellet, cello, Jan Dubost, double bass, Alexander Sitovetsky, violin, Jeroen Reuling, cello, Matthias Buchholz, viola, Polina Leschenko, Olivier Roberti, piano.    
  • In 2008 : Philippe Graffin, violin, Matthias Buchholz, viola, Jeroen Reuling, cello, Olivier Roberti, piano, Irène Candelier, soprano, Daniel Ottevaere, bass, Yves Vandenbussche, tenor, Christoph Schiller, viola, François Guye, Noémi Boutin, cellos.

 

On 25 February 2008 in Brussels a beautiful concert was given by two artists sponsored by Mecenagora, the young supporters of the Enghien International Musical Encounters.

Agniezka Kolodziej, cello,  accompanied by Philippe Riga, piano, played Beethoven and Popper Nicolas Zielinski, counter tenor, also accompanied by Philippe Riga, piano, sang areas from Haendel, Mozart, Gluck,Straaus and Rossini
