Justus Grimm

Born in Hamburg, Justus took up the cello at the age of five and studied under his father’s guidance before going on to study with mastere such as Ulrich Voss, Claus Kanngiesser, Frans Helmerson, but also Steven Isserlis, Boris Pergamenschokow, William Pleeth and Heinrich Schiff.

Justus stood out in numerous competition, winning 1st Prizes at the Maria Canals International Music Competition and the German Conservatoires’ Cello Competition and winning the Deutscher Musikrat Competition with pianist Florian Wiek.

Justus performed across Europe, both as soloist and chamber musician, on prestigious venues and festivals, and with renowned musicians (El Bacha, Blumenthal, Caussé, Dumay, Fromanger, Graffin,…).

He also recorded pieces by Beethoven, Brahms, Shostakovich, Weber, Farrenc, Mendelssohn and Gaubert, and has been broadcasted as a soloist on the major national radio channels across Germany, France and Belgium

Since 2008 Justus has been teaching at the Conservatoire of Antwerp.
