Razvan Popovici

Born into a a family of musicians, Razvan Popovici studied in Salzburg, Paris and Freiburg with Peter Langgartner, Jean Sulem, Wolfram Christ and Christoph Wyneken.
He is founder and executive director of the ChiemgauerMusikfrühling Festival in Germany and of the SoNoRo Festival in Bucharest. He was appointed executive director oft heEuropalia Festival 2019/20 in Brussels.
Razvan is a member of the Ensemble Raro, with wich he tours regularly Europe, Japan and North America. The ensemble released so far nine worldwide acclaimed CDs.
As a soloist Razvan has appeared in the Théatre-dés-Champs-Elysées in Paris, the Cologne Philharmony, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Atheneum in Bucharest and the Prinzregententheater in Munich with orchestras such as the Kobe Chamber Orchestra, the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra Comunale del Teatro di Bologna, the CHAARTS Chamber Aartists Zürich, the Lohja City Orchestra, KamerataKronstadt, Transylvania Symphony Orchestra Cluj, the Sibiu State Philharmonic, the Romanian National Radio Orchestra or the George Enescu Philharmonic Bucharest under the baton of ShlomoMintz, Roberto Abbado, Christian Badea, John Axelrod, Gabriel Bebeselea, Valentin Uryupin, Anton Sherbakov, Cristian Orosanu, Jonathan Berman, Diana Ketler, Christoph Wynekenoder Tomas Djupsjöbacka.
As a chamber musician he has performed in the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Wigmore Hall and the South Bank Centre in London, the Musashino Hall and Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Gasteig in Munich, Kennedy Center in Washington, De Singel in Antwerpen, BOZAR in Brussels and both in the Konzerthaus und Musikverein in Vienna.
Razvan is regularly guest at some of the most renowned festivals in the world such as Lucerne Festival, Wiener Festwochen, RheingauMusikfestival, George Enescu Festival, Spoleto Festival, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, Vivarte Festival Moscow, Rolandseck Festival, Boswiler Sommer,SchwetzingerFestspielen, Spoleto Festival, FerrarraMusica, ElverumFestspielen, Mittelfest in Cividale, ArteVertenses Festival in Tiradentes, Brazil, Malaga Chamber Music Festival, Festival Academy Budapestand Stavanger Festival.
He has performed extensively with Natalia Gutman, ShlomoMintz, Enrico Pace, Giovanni Sollima, Konstantin Lifschitz, Radovan Vlatkovic, Olli Mustonen, Louis Lortie, SergejNakariakov, DaishinKashimoto, Gilles Apap, Boris Brovtsyn, Ilya Gringolts, Juliane Banse, Christoph Prégardien, Martin Lovett, Mihaela Martin, Philippe Graffin, Frans Helmerson, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Patrick Gallois, Elena Bashkirova, Nobuko Imai, SergejNakariakov,VildeFrang, BarnábasKelémen, Maxim Rysanov or Lawrence Power as well as alongside the Szymanowski, Vertavo, Casal, Michelangelo, Danel, Kelémen, Glinka or Schumann Quartets and members of the Amadeus Quartet or the Ensemble Wien-Berlin.
Razvan played as an extra player with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and has been guest principal violist in many orchestras including the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Aartists Zürich, the Gstaad Festival Orchestra and the Kobe Chamber Orchestra.
Razvan gave master classes in Europe, Japan and South America. He teaches regularly at the Villa Musica Foundation in Mainz.
